Park Seo-Bo committed a total of $1 million to the Gwangju Biennale Foundation for the establishment of 'Gwangju Biennale Park Seo-Bo Art Prize', a new award program created to discover and support prospective artists. In this, The Gwangju Biennale Foundation was to reorganize the Noon Award established since 2010 and continue it as the ‘Gwangju Biennale Park Seo-Bo Art Prize,’ awarding the each biannually selected artist the prize and $100,000.
In collaborative work with Louis Vuitton, Park Seo-Bo participated in the Artycapucines project. The Artycapucines project is an art project by Louis Vuitton brand, from which are produces 200-limited edition Artycapucines bags in collaboration with 6 artists from all around the world, and Park is the first Korean artist to be selected in the list.
As Rosa Maria as editor, Park Seo-Bo: Écriture (Rizzoli, 2021) was published from Rizzoli.
On October 22nd at Daloreum Theater of National Theater of Korea, Park Seo-Bo received the 19th Cultural Day: The Gold Certificate of Merit. The merit represents a highest honor given to the national heroes who have contributed to the development of culture and art in Korea since 1969, and the Gold Certificate of Merit acknowledged Park's contributions as the pioneer of Dansaekhwa, bringing forth the trend of abstraction into Korean art and introducing the art to the worldwide viewership.
With the wish to establish a public art museum in the name of the master of Dansaekhwa at his hometown, Yecheon, Park Seo-Bo signed an agreement to museum construction and donation of art works for the establishment of "Yecheon Park Seo-Bo Museum". The estimated finish of the museum is in 2025.
Park Seo-Bo was selected as the Best Artist of the Year at the 40th Korean Art Critic Conference hosted by Korean Art Critics Association.
Park Seo-Bo's daughter, Park Seungsook, who works as the art therapist, published a book on her father's life and work, Park Seo-Bo's Art & Life (인물과 사상, 2019).
After Seobo Art Foundation, Park Seo-Bo established GIZI Foundation with his second son, Park Seungho. Designed by architect Cho, Byoungsoo, the exterior of GIZI Foundation building reflects the simplicity and depth and subtle changes of Park Seo-Bo's art and was colored with the 'air hue' from the artist's work. The main aim of GIZI Foundation is the discovery and support of young artists.
Park Seo-Bo received the 64th National Academy of Arts of the Republic of Korea Award (Fine Art Sector) sponsored by the National Academy of Arts.
The major retrospective Park Seo-Bo: The Untiring Endeavorer (May 18th - Sep. 1st, 2019) opened in MMCA Seoul, encompassing 130 of Park Seo-Bo's work from his early to recent periods and 100 pieces of archival documents. This exhibition was an opportunity to re-establish Park Seo-Bo's place within Korean art world and art history in the international fervor over Dansaekhwa.
With the plan to establish a single-work museum (a museum displaying one work at a time) at Jeju’s Jeoji Artist Village, Park requested to architect Cho, Byoungsoo to construct the museum.
Park Seo-Bo’s work Ecriture No.940770 was used for the cover of the 10th edition of Art Fundamentals: Theory and Practice, a textbook published by the world-renowned U.S publishing company McGraw-Hill. The book also included a commentary on Park’s work on page 131.
In White Cube Gallery at London Mason's Yard, Park Seo-Bo: Ecriture (描法) 1967-1981 (Jan. 14th - Mar. 12th, 2016) was held.
The special exhibition DANSAEKHWA (May 7th - Aug. 15th, 2015, Palazzo Contarini-Polignac) was held at the 56th Venice Biennale. Noting these exhibitions, art dealers from all around the world started to send love calls to Park Seo-Bo.
In the Hong Kong Christie's Evening Sale of November, 2015, Park Seo-Bo's Ecriture No.65-75 was sold at 9,400,000 HKD (around 139,000,000 KRW in currency exchange rate at the time), and in 2016, a feat was achieved selling all 16 of the submitted works at the solo exhibition Park Seo-Bo: Ecriture (描法) 1967-1981 (Jan. 14th - Mar. 12th, 2016) held at White Cube Mason’s Yard in London. That April, the solo exhibition Empty the Mind: The Art of Park Seo-Bo (Mar. 30th - May 14th, 2016) was held at Tokyo Gallery in Japan.
Park Seo-Bo was invited to attend a fundraising gala held at the World Trade Center in New York on November 9th for the 40th anniversary of the Hirshhorn Museum. While organizing the event, the Hirshhorn Museum, which is administered by the Smithsonian Institution, honored 40 major artists who offered a perspective on the current era within the contemporary art world. Alongside Chuck Close, Anish Kapoor, and Joseph Kosuth, the Korean artists Park Seo-Bo and Lee Ufan were among those receiving awards.
Park Seo-Bo was elected as the artist committee of 'Dia Fall Night Honoring Robert Ryman' event and was invited to the event of November 8th, held in commemoration of Rober Ryman's honor by Dia Art Foundation.
Based on the success of Frieze Masters 2013, Kukje Gallery subsequently invited art critic Yoon Jinsup to organize the exhibition The Art of Dansaekhwa (Aug. 28th - Oct. 19th, 2014), which re-examined Dansaekhwa art in the context of Korean modernism. The exhibition’s participating artists were Kim Gui-line, Park Seo-Bo, Yun Hyongkeun, Lee Ufan, Chung Sang-Hwa, Chung Changsup, and Ha Chong Hyun. Kukje Gallery also presented a collateral conference in line with the season of three major Korean Biennales, in which attended major art figures from the world, including Alexandra Munroe of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, independent curators based in Europe, and Chong Doryun of Hong Kong M+.
Dansaekhwa began to spread overseas at a rapid rate. The exhibition Overcoming the Modern; Dansaekhwa: The Korean Monochrome Movement (Feb. 19th - Mar. 29th, 2014) was held at Alexander Gray Associates in New York, while From All Sides: Tansaekhwa on Abstraction (Sep. 13th, Nov. 18th, 2014), curated by Joan Kee, was held at the Blum & Poe Gallery.
The same year, the Park Seo-Bo solo exhibition Ecriture (Nov. 6th - Dec. 20th, 2015), planned and curated by Kim Yongdae, was held at the world-renowned Galerie Perrotin. For that exhibition, Park showed 37 of his most renowned works from the years 1974 to 2013. About the exhibition, Kim Yongdae stated that he "arranged the works of the 'white Ecritures' of 1970s to the recent color Ecritures in consideration of the gallery space which has good natural lighting." This solo exhibition is considered the bridge for Park in acquiring international attention.
On June 24th, 2014, Park Seo-Bo received the 12th Lee Dong Hun Fine Art Award (Main Prize), sponsored by Joongdo Ilbo and managed by the Lee Dong Hun Fine Art Award Committee and Daejeon Musuem of Art. The invitational exhibition for the awardee of 12th Lee Dong Hun Art Award, Park Seo-Bo: Ecriture (Nov. 13th - Dec. 13th, 2015) took place in Daejeon Museum of Art.
In the atmosphere of international re-appreciation for Dansaekhwa and Park Seo-Bo, Park's art started to be included in the collections and museums worldwide, including the Hong Kong M+, Yuz Museum, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (2014), MoMA, Chicago Art Institute, SIGG Collection, and the George Economou Collection (2015).
After the monumental 2012 exhibition of Dansaekhwa: Korean Monochrome Painting (MMCA), Kukje Gallery started to showcase Dansaekhwa works by artists including Park Seo-Bo, Ha Chong Hyun, and Kwon Youngwoo in Frieze Masters 2013. As this was in accordance with the popularity of monochrome art in international art world, the showcase drew collectors' attention to Korean artists who had been previously under-appreciated than their Chinese and Japanese peers and resulted in the sold-out of Dansaekhwa works.
On February 25th, Park's daughter, Park Seungsook remarried with Pyo Jin-Woong.
Park Seo Bo exhibition (Mar. 6th - Jul. 29th, 2012) was held in Daegu Art Museum and Park, Seo-Bo (Sep. 17th - Oct. 9th, 2012), in Gallery Shilla.
Dansaekhwa: Korean Monochrome Painting exhibition (Mar. 17th - May 13th, 2012) planned by art critic Yoon Jinsup opened at MMCA. The exhibition introduced 150 artworks created by 17 older-generation Dansaekhwa artists including Park Seo-Bo, Yun Hyongkeun, Lee Ufan, and Chung Changsup, and 14 younger generation Dansaekhwa artists including Lee Kang-So and Moon Beom.
